In the event of an "accident"
I don't go to work fearing for my life or anything, but in case the situation escalates, here is my little note for people to find...
I have a tenant in my building (well, my only tenant) who is extremely unreliable. He has lied to me, he has pretended that he doesn't understand English (even though he does), he has tried to make me feel guilty for expecting timely payments (and more importantly, honesty... I know... how dare I expect such things?). Also, in this year alone (2007), two of his rent checks have bounced, and one time, he just paid me the rent (a lot) in cash. CASH. (Because... that's not sketchy.)
Well, yesterday we had a big argument (I claimed that he'd lied to me, and he claimed that I just didn't understand that situation and was being difficult). So he pretty much hates me (even though he told the manager at my store a few months ago that he wanted to marry me... but that was before he realized that I was serious landlord and not some submissive sex object to fulfill his disgusting geisha fantasies).
Anyway, I would like to make it clear that I have NEVER been threatened by this guy. I have never felt that I was in any danger. He has never touched me or harassed me. BUT... I am writing this because his son had just spent two nights in jail this week for beating his wife (who subsequently left him). And... people tend to learn that sort of behavior (I'm not saying from whom). And... if his son is capable of doing that to his wife... well... yeah. His son has always been nice to me but... yeah...
So in case something happens to me... just investigate those guys. (Not that I think that anything will happen to me because I have never felt that I was in any danger before. But if something does, that's the first place that people should look because obviously one of them is capable of meanness, and the other one doesn't like me.)
The end (of my overly dramatic and eye-roll-inducing paranoia).
